1. Enter the app store on your Iphone.
2. Click search and type wordpress.
3. You will see Wordpress 2 in the results.
4. It’s a free app so click on free, then on install.

First item I added to my cart was an USB cable for Sony Ericsson Z530i for just $3,56, it costs 10 times that price here in Brazil.

Later I thinked better and added another cable for my wife (nobody wants an annoyed wife).

Keeped looking and founded 2Gb M2 compatible memory (for Sony phones ) for $8,37 , added 2 of these to my cart and paid my bill.

At this moment I was thinking for myself , “are these guys serious? Am I losing money and time?”. Any way my order was only four items and very inexpensive.

And if this site is for real I would benefit a lot since  I have seen 1Gb memory for 20 times that value in local stores.

When finished my purchase, my long wait started, it took 3 weeks.

Finally I received my products by mail and the wait was paid off by the excelent quality products I received and the ridiculous prices I paid:

The sent USB cables was exactly as expected. The memory wasn’t…

… it was very better.

I did not recieve compatible memory as I paid for. Instead I got original Sony Branded M2 Memory (thanks DealExtreme).

All items  came carefully packaged.

And I paid nothing for shipment.

I right clicked on them and saw they came from gravatar.com (both nice and ugly)…

So I went to visit gravatar.com and registered my email.

I easily uploaded an image to my gravatar space and also included more emails I frequently use.

The whole process took only 1 minute and was easy enough for anyone to accomplish.

Now anyone can see my avatar when I post on any compativel blog system like wordpress.com

I recommend very much this free service.

Friend Connect

Few days ago I subscribed to a new service on Google called “friendconnect“.

Subscription is available to anyone, however accounts are hand picked by Google at this moment.

This isn’t new, Google did the same for Google Apps, and other services.

Google Friends seems very promising as its part of the Open Social Project.

I installed it at 12:00pm, when I returned to work at 13:00 somebody was already using it.

Another great thing is the “Wall Gadget” It allows page visitors to leave a comment on a page. This wall could be the same for any page of our site or diferent for each page. (very useful for blog articles)

I suppose things will change in the way sites socialize.

A site can have attributes that before  were limited only to blogs.

For example: A company could have the interactivity and feedback directly from the main site having no needs for a blog.

You need a Google account to use this service, anyway it looks good.

I’m taking a closer look at it here at my site and will be writing about  “Google friend connect” right here.

My Twitter Page

First I met the Twitter Tools Plugin for Wordpress.
It works fine, but includes a minor bug , time is not easily adjusted when using diferent time zones, so posts I made one day could be appear on twitter other day.
The good side of Twitter Tools is that you can configure it to update your Wordpress posts on Twitter, update Twitter posts on Wordpress or the even the both options together.

The bad side is that it requires some basic knowledge handling FTP and configuring Wordpress.

Today I started following a Twitter user called Twitter assuming this user is the twitter webmaster or similar.

They use they us a system called “twitterfeed“  and I suppose they know what they are doing so I decided to take a closer look at Twitter Feed.

Both systems are completely free and easy to use.

Twitter Feed is easier to use since it’s not a plug-in, it’s a web service you subscribe and use for free.

Another cool thing is that probably you won’t have to create an account for it, since It accepts Open Id account (and even you don’t know you may have one already ).

Once inside, http://twitterfeed.com/you will have to inform your blog’s or site’s RSS feed (for example: http://www.pablosilvioesquivel.com/feed/ ) , your twitter account name and twitter password.

Then inform how often you want Twitter Feed to check your blog’s RSS.

And that ll there is to it !

Tech Expertus Using Google Custom Search

Recently a customer asked for a personalized search page, he wanted the best results so the motor had to be Google Bot.

Rather than creating a form that would point to google.com as a would years ago, I used a far better technology.

Google custom Search, this allows users to benefit from awesome search results without leaving our site.

O processo de 5 minutos ficou mais complicado para mim por estar usando um servidor Microsoft. Porém (horas depois e com algumas limitações) consegui finalizar a instalação.

Hoje entrei no painel de administração e me encontrei com que devo fazer um upgrade para a nova versão. AAAAAAAAA!

Fiz minha investigação e postei aqui os resultados para que vocês que publicam WORDPRESS EM PORTUGUES não perder tempo.

• A versão 2.6.3 Português não esta disponível no momento deste post.
• A versão 2.6.3 traz uma importante atualização de segurança e deve ser instalada urgente!
• Quem tem sua versão em português pode fazer o seguinte para atualizar sem perder a tradução.
  (Eu fiz e esta funcionando)

Passo 1:
Fazam download destes 2 arquivos e coloquem no seu site nas respectivas pastas.

• wp-includes/class-snoopy.php
• wp-includes/version.php

Passo 2:

Pronto.

Se por algum motivo quiser fazer o Download do wordpress completo o endereço é http://wordpress.org/download/ (Em inglês)

Mais isto é desnecessário se você tiver ja a versão 2.6.2 já que o único que mudou são os arquivos acima indicados.
